Release Notes

This release contains an enhancement to support the 2018 tax transcripts/form 1040 documents with the 2020-2021 update to ISIR fields and an enhancement to the document review data labels to better reflect the fields in question.

Enhancements

  • [SV-3284] - 2018 Federal IRS Tax Transcripts & Signed Federal IRS Form 1040
    • During the transition between the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 ISIR file layout, the following fields have been removed/replaced:
      • Student's/Parents' Exemptions Claimed (removed)
      • Student/Parents Eligible to File 1040A or 1040EZ? (replaced by Student/Parents Filed a Schedule 1?)
      • Student's/Parents' IRA Distributions (removed)
      • Student's/Parents' Untaxed Pensions (removed)
      • Student's/Parents' Untaxed Portions of IRA Distributions and Pensions (added)
    • Because of the changes, all of the 2018 Federal IRS Tax Transcripts and 2018 Signed Federal IRS Form 1040 documents (for Student/Parent 1/Parent 2/Parents'/Parent/Spouse/Student and Spouse) have been split for the two years to support the ISIR fields found for each year.
      • The 2019-2020 versions of the documents, found only in the PJ EFC, have the word (Appeals) found at the end to distinguish them from their 2020-2021 counterparts, and contains the following fields:
        • Student's/Parents' Exemptions Claimed
        • Student/Parents Eligible to File 1040A or 1040EZ?
        • Student's/Parents' IRA Distributions
        • Student's/Parents' Untaxed Pensions
      • The 2020-2021 versions of the documents, found in Verification and PJ EFC, have the following fields:
        • Student/Parents Filed a Schedule 1?
        • Student's/Parents' Untaxed Portions of IRA Distributions and Pensions
  • [SV-2783] - Document Review ISIR Field Labels
    • Previously, document review data field labels were displayed as the ISIR field name found on the record layout. This caused some confusion for user entering data, such as reviewing the Spouse's tax transcript, where a field such as AGI was marked as Student's Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) - while the spouse's value factored into the actual ISIR field, reviewers have expressed concern that the labeling is confusing and should reflect the actual document's values.
    • Selected documents now have the data entry fields reflecting the values shown on the document. A few examples:
      • On the Spouse's  2018 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript, AGI is now labeled as "Spouse's Adjusted Gross Income From IRS Form" rather than being labeled as "Student's", although the value is still tied to the correct ISIR field
      • On the Parents' 2018 Signed Federal IRS Form 1040, the ISIR field "Parents' Interest Income" is now displayed as "Parents' Tax-Exempt Interest Income", as seen on the document
